Our Mission

We are passionate about the mountains! We love to climb, ski and to share the mountains with others. The company was founded in 2019 with the goal of bringing the triumph, energy and connection to nature that mountaineering provides to Canadians at home and around the world.

We provide exceptional mountaineering (Climbing, hiking, scrambling, skiing etc...) experiences in wild and remote places tailored to challenge our guests both physically and mentally. We believe this controlled exposure to risk and adventure is essential to the development and maintenance of the human spirit. The complex, dynamic and sometimes hazardous mountain environment provides the greatest arena on earth to re-invigorate the human spirit thus encouraging growth in leadership; teamwork; physical fitness; moral and physical courage; as well as other personal attributes and skills. Oh - We also have a lot of fun along the way too! From our base in Invermere BC we provide adventures into the Purcells, the Canadian rockies and around the world.

NSM strives to be a premier provider of mountaineer development and mountain adventures in Canada. Trips are designed with your progression as a mountaineer in mind. Educational components will be covered as required for optimal performance and development as a climber. Trips are tailored to your needs and prioritized for their value to you the Mountaineer. Immerse yourself in wilderness and travel in harmony with it.

Michael Caswell

Mike grew up in the Similkameen Valley of British Columbia where he began to climb and ski in the mountains at a young age. After completing an undergraduate degree in Physics in Burnaby BC Mike began travelling the world seeking out great climbing and skiing opportunities. Mike began his professional career in the mountains working as a mountain rescue technician in summer and avalanche forecaster for ski areas in winter. Mike has since completed his guiding certification and pursues his passion of taking guests into the mountains year round. Although he has traveled to the high peaks of USA, south america and the European alps to climb and ski his favorite place to climb is still the Canadian wilderness! In 2010 Mike moved to Invermere Where he now resides with his Wife and two children. Mike is a certified Mountain Guide and member of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides and the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations and is a Professional member of the Canadaian Avalanche Association.
