"The mountains are my church, the snow and ice my paved trail, the wind my personal poet. The stars and moon in the night sky are my very own public utilities that light up the mountainside for my alpine starts at 2 a.m. I don’t own the mountains, and never will, but I borrow from them and gain a lot in the process." - Unknown
Mountaineering: Alpine rock, ice and snow. This is climbing to the top of a high peak using skill, determination and fitness. Routes and trips vary from scrambles where a rope is rarely used to steep and technical rock and ice routes that will test even the most experienced climbers.
We specialize in climbing the high peaks and glaciers of the Canadian Rockies and Columbia mountains during the summer months. (Generally June to September are the best months for mountaineering in Canada.)
Whether it is your first time ever or you are a seasoned mountaineer seeking to tick the next great objective off your bucket list we have something for you. We take great care to customize and select the right trip for you and your group.
Some peaks can be accomplished in a day from town but due to the remote nature of most peaks in the Canadian Rockies and Columbia Mountains many peaks require multiple days to ascend. For peaks that require multiple days to ascend we will either be sleeping in a simple hut or utilizing mountaineering tents or bivi gear. For many trips mountaineer portering services are available. Please read below for the three styles of camp arrangements that we offer: Alpine Style, Light Speed (Portered), and Base camp.
The recommended approach and tactics for a route or peak will vary depending on the specifics for your objectives and goals as the mountaineer.
